I am not claiming this to be authentic however it was easy and delicious and I will make it this way next year.

I have seen lots of recipes and variations however this was the easiest for our family on a busy schedule and wanted to have a little celebration and fun!

I used 2 packages of crescent rolls. Unroll the 1st package in sets of 4 on an ungreased cookie sheet. Pinch all the creases together to make 2 solid pieces of crescent dough.

Carefully removing your 2nd piece of crescent dough place it on top like a sandwich and press the edges shut sealing in all the yumminess!!

Repeat the above steps again with your 2nd package of cressent rolls.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes till golden brown. One of my edges came apart I didn’t pinch it off as well as I should have.

Glaze the top of your partially cooled king cake with butter cream frosting or icing of your choice.

While the icing is still wet, using colored sugar/sprinkles add green, yellow and purple to your cake.

This cake came out alot better than I thought and it was extremely easy and fast to make.

For ease of use, only take out 1 container of crescent rolls at a time till your ready for your 2nd. The colder the dough you work with the easier it will be to create. Once the dough starts to get to room temperature it starts to tear and harder to work with.

A light and fluffy crust with amazing insides!! YUM!!!!

I know the tradition is to hide a baby in the cake. I choose not to do this to avoid choking but you could bake the baby inside the cake as well.

I am excited how well this turned out. I did not have to wait for dough to rise and do alot of mixing. I know this is definitely cutting alot of corners but I am all about making it quick when I am a super busy mom on the go. 🙂

Happy Fat Tuesday!!
