Last night was our Blue & Gold Banquet for our Cub Scouts ๐ย Since I am the Pack Committee Chair I wanted to do Western theme and all the parents were up for that. It was a great night. One of my favorite Blue & Golds. This is my 5th year planning it and executing it. (7th year involved in Blue & Gold) So each year I keep saying its my favorite year but I think this one now is my favorite ๐
This post will have alot of photos ๐ So I hope you enjoy ๐ย I had fabulous people in my Church to donate quite a bit of these items. It took a while to figure out who had what but I am a planner and started early and bugged everyone I knew. I think it paid off ๐
Going to start with the Decorations ๐
My hubby built this out of palettes and used chalk board paint for the sign ๐
MY FAVORITE POSTER!!! HA HA HA!!
Alot to look at. ๐ย Peanuts on the table, mason jars I tied with burlap and fabric. Horseshoes I got from a friend with horses. We left the rust on them and spray clear coat to keep it rustic looking and not get rust all over everyone. Pie pans from GFS marketplace. They even had the fork/spoon with the checkered napkins all together with salt and pepper. I loved that!!ย ย Mason jars with pewter lids and paper straws made it alot off fun. The round tables were covered with painting / kraft paper you get on large rolls at Home Depot in the painting dept.
Lots and Lots of bandanas were used and tied to the back of the chairs and then we used old fence panels from someone in the church that removed their fence. They were put together for a wedding back in December and we got to reuse them. I love how it made it look in the room.
Snake in the hole game- was a game my husband made for my daughters Brave party. I removed the title and replaced it in vinyl with the snake title. I love how versatile this game is!!
Wanted signs were made a few weeks ahead during den meetings. One meeting I took a quick photo of the boy with a hat/bandana I brought on my phone. Then in photo shop made them look rustic. Even took photos of the leaders. The next den meeting I had pieces of the same craft paper that we used to cover the tables with and the boys decorated their wanted posters. I printed out their photos in black and white and glued to the middle. Very Easy to do.
Hobby Stick Horses were another Den meeting. Cut 4 foot PVC pipes (you can get 10 feet for less than 2.00) So I was able to get 2 boys per piece. Then they took lunch sacks and stuffed them with newprint. Taped them on like heads. Added eyes and ears and yarn mains. Very easy.
The posters and the horses I kept. I didnt allow them to take them home till after blue and gold.
We also had a craft table. Will explain more about that next ๐
Lets talk food… YUMMMMYY!!
This is my plate. I skipped the bun & chips ๐
All the wood boxes used on the tables my wonderful husband created with our fence outside that was rotting and needed replacing. He mad 29 different boxes and sizes. I will save how he did that for another post later on ๐
The signs , also fence slats just cut to size and painted .
All set up and waiting for people to arrive with their part of the dinners.
We created the pulled pork for 80 people. It was sooo yummy!! Everyone else was assigned food ahead of time.ย We had Baked Beans, Chips, different pasta salads, dessert was Root beer Floats and Cookies ๐ YEE HAW!! It was a very delicious dinner indeed. So easy too.
Now we can talk about the activities ๐
My 2 cuties and my sisters cuties. Her boys I am blessed to have them in my Pack!!
My amazing husband!! xoxox and Cubmaster!!! He is awesome!!
We had a pretty busy night!!
Snake in the hole game, horse craft, horse races, awards and learned some line dancing ๐
Horse craft was pretty easy. Yarn cut up, horse bodies that I cut out on my Silhouette machine in white card stock, clothes pins for the legs. Glue. It was an easy craft and the kids loved it.
The horse race went over very well. The boys LOVED racing them. They made 3 laps till the race was over.
Line dancing a sweet Young Women in our Ward taught the kids how to line dance to Cotton Eyed Joe. That was a HUGE success!
Awards were great. We talked about the boys being bandits (as seen on their wanted papers) But they worked so hard and were good guys. So We issued each boy a SHERIFFS badge that we had their names on. They loved that. I wish I had gotten a photo of those. I found them for very inexpensively on Amazon – Metal Sheriff’s Badges Click Here.
We then ended the night with the dessert. ๐
We had a great time and everyone cleaned up real nice. ๐
There was alot of whooping and hollering and yee hawing going on. I would say everyone had a pretty good time. I am happy to say NOTHING broke ๐ Even better!!
Hope you enjoyed all the photos. One more Blue & Gold banquet under my belt. ๐
Thanks to all my leaders and helpers and friends that made this possible for me to pull this off ๐
And a HUGEEEE thank you to the love of my life- my hubby. Who worked so hard building me boxes and dragging all these heavy things to and from the church. XOXOXO I sure know how to pick em!! xoxo
WOWEEEEEE!!!! This is so grand! I can’t believe how creative everything is! And it all looks like a TON of fun, too! I’m a retired teacher, but I would’ve LOVED having you and your hubby for room parents ~ I can just imagine the class parties you’d come up with! Great job on everything ~ this will provide lots of long-lasting memories for anyone who attended!!!
Wow – that was a ton of work – just in the decorations, but when you look at all the smiles on the faces of the kids…..it was a project well worth all the effort.
The Wanted posters were hilarious and they were, obviously, people everyone knew. PVC and paper bag horse – you thought of everything & the cost was minimal. Show you don’t need a ton of $$ to have a good time.
Something for everyone – even line dancing. The spinning wheel made a great backdrop for photos and you know everyone will be raving about this party for a LONG time.
Thanks for sharing your photos. Big pat on the back from me.
What a FANTASTIC party for the scouts!!
Everything looked awesome and all that food!! ๐
It sure was well worth all the time you put into the gathering, very nice of ‘hubby’ to help haul things and make things with you.
I especially liked the happy faces on all of the children…..YAY YOU!!! Hubby too!
Thank you posting all of the photos. ๐
